During college I realized how sick of frozen meals I was, and that I desperately needed to learn how to cook. I bought myself a few cookbooks from some garage sales, and started following recipes step by step. I learned what I liked and didn't like, and continued to grow in my love for the processes I was learning, especially the eating part. When I got married a year later, it was taken up another notch, learning how to cook with my husband. Two opinionated people take awhile to learn how to take turns submitting to each other in the kitchen. But with that challenge, we grew and grew together learning how to work together towards a yummy plate of food.
After getting the basics down, I started learning more about nutrition. The overall picture for me is to cook and bake most everything, if not everything, from scratch. I do not like to use pre-prepared items in my meals, I'd rather do the extra step and benefit from the nutrition I know is going into it. I avoid processed foods where nutrients are lacking, and instead try to shop organic and locally as much as possible. Our favorite guidelines to follow in regards to food is the Traditional Diet, where indigenous tribes were studied around the world who have minimal occurrence of heart disease, tooth decay, or cancer. The health benefits are outstanding, and I am still learning and growing in this area. It's basically whole foods, with an introduction of fermented foods in your diet to maintain a healthy gut.

Billy, my husband, who I'll mention frequently in my posts, is a home brewer and avid food lover like myself. He cooks just as much as me, and loves trying new and challenging recipes. Over the last couple of years he has brewed about 8 different types of beer styles, and continues to learn as much as he can about home brewing.
We are also artists, and sort of got connected through art back in highschool while we were just friends. Our art has blossomed throughout the years, and especially since we've been married. Our official website is yeuxpaint.com and we sell art on etsy. We both are pursuing degrees in Fine Arts and Design.
